Happy New Years! Setting Goals and Finishing Projects

Golden script reading “Happy New Year!” on a dark blue background with bright, sparkling fireworks and glowing lights scattered around, creating a festive celebration atmosphere.

This year is going to be great. I am happy to announce that I have completed many of the Book of Shadow collections and I am in the process of adding them to Patreon for sale! WOOHOO!!

This is a huge step for me. I have been working on these collections for the better part of four years, going back and forth with organization, style, and structure. I wanted something that was different than the Canva-template Book of Shadows you find on Etsy, many which are filled with inaccuracies and lack solid information. My goal was to create something that inspires, not frustrates. I believe that I have achieved that. I still have more to finish, but starting somewhere is a goal.

I have many goals for this year. Some are personal goals, and some are business-related, but the key word for all of them is starting.

Most people never start and that is why they never get where they want to go. My issue has never been starting; it's been seeing things through to completion. I usually hit a wall where the desire to continue fades. However, when I want something badly enough, nothing that will stop me.

This project was very much a start and stop one. Looking back, I can see why: I didn't have a clear outcome for what I really wanted. That lead me to re-evaluate the whole project and make a list of what it was that I wanted in a BOS. That shift changed everything. It gave me direction, helped me adjust my approach, and it is what lead to the completion of many collections. I realigned my goals this past year, and as a result, I succeeded.

That is the point of this message: Sometimes goals need to re-evaluated and adjusted. When values or beliefs change, goals should change too. While this project has a clear final outcome (the BOS collections) the goals to get there needed flexibility. It's easy to say "create a Book of Shadows," but its harder to say what you want inside it, like elements, moon cycle, candle information, and so on. It was the lack of clarity in those small details that held this project back. Once I addressed that, I was finally able to finish.

What I have learned is that goals are not supposed to be rigid. They are supposed to be alive. When something isn't moving forward, it doesn't mean that you are failing, it means the goal itself needs more clarity, honesty, or alignment with who you are now, not when it was first set.

Finishing doesn't always look like powering through at all costs. Sometimes finishing is taking breaks, reassessing, and changing direction so that the work can move forward again. That shift is what allowed these BOS collections to be completed instead of just another one of my hair-brained ideas that sit half-finished and never get done.

If you are feeling stuck on a goal, I encourage you to look closer at it and determine what the end result really is about. Break that goal down into smaller pieces. Adjust what needs to. You have not failed because you are making changes, you are paying attention.

I'm proud of these collections and I'm excited to finally share them with you. More are still coming, but this time, my intentions have clarity and momentum behind them. Thank you for being here, supporting my work, and for being part of this journey.
